About Acumen Logic
Started by a candidate who liked the tests everyone else dreaded.
Acumen Logic is UK aptitude-test preparation for finance and consulting graduate applications. It exists because the aptitude test is where most of the competition actually happens, and because the skill it measures can be taught.
The reality
Why finance is so competitive.
A graduate offer in finance or consulting is harder to land than most people expect. The online test is where most of that competition is decided.
The test comes first.
For most major finance and consulting schemes, a timed online test sits between your application and any human ever reading it.
Most rejections happen there.
In competitive schemes, more candidates are cut at the online assessment than at any later point, often within days of applying.
The bar is relative.
These tests are norm-referenced: you are scored against the other applicants in your cycle, not a fixed threshold. Being good is not enough. You have to be better.
It is a trainable skill.
The formats, the timings and the traps repeat. Candidates who train them systematically walk in with an advantage the rest do not have.
The story
Why this exists.
I started Acumen Logic after seeing first-hand how competitive the UK job market is, especially in finance.
Aptitude tests were always my favourite part of an application. My peers never quite understood that, but it meant that every application season, friends came to me for advice on how to approach them. The more I practised, the better I got, to the point of achieving exceptionally high scores. And somewhere along the way it became clear that this wasn't a talent. It was a skill I had trained, and a skill that can be taught.
That's what Acumen Logic is. It identifies your weakest areas and targets them with concise, practical drills, so the test stops being the thing that ends your application. My goal is simple: help you clear the aptitude-test hurdle, reach the later rounds, and land the job you actually want.
The standard
How the content is built.
Every replica assessment is built to the publisher's published specification: timings, question formats and scoring rules, taken from the publisher's own material. Publisher-published material outranks everything else; prep-industry claims are never used as the sole basis for anything. Your percentile is an estimate from a statistical model calibrated to typical performance on the aptitude tests UK employers set — not a live count of other people's scores. It is labelled "estimated" everywhere it appears. When a publisher changes a test, the replica gets corrected.
