What is the SHL test?

SHL sends online aptitude tests for employers. What we know about the real test, and how sure we are:

  • Confirmed SHL's Verify G+ test is 30 questions in an allowed 36 minutes: 10 numerical, 10 deductive and 10 inductive, according to SHL's own fact sheet.
  • Reported For SHL's single-subject tests, preparation providers including JobTestPrep and AssessmentDay report Verify Interactive Numerical at 10 questions in 18 minutes.
  • Not published SHL publishes no question count or time limit for its other Verify tests, so check your invite.

C = confirmed by the publisher. R = reported by a named secondary source. NP = not published. Facts last verified 10 September 2026. Your invite email is the only source that is true for your test.

Common questions

Is this the real SHL test?
No. It is our own replica practice test, written in SHL’s format. It is not produced, licensed or endorsed by SHL. Your real test is set by your employer, and your invitation email says which SHL test it is.
Which employers use SHL?
Your invite email usually says. We only name employers where we have a source; if you are not sure, our test providers page compares all four.
How long is the real SHL test?
It depends on the test. SHL publishes 30 questions in 36 minutes for Verify G+ (Confirmed). For its other tests SHL publishes no time limit (Not published), so check your invite.
Can I use a calculator?
On our free SHL test, yes: a physical calculator, none on screen. For the real test, check your invite.
Can I retake the free test?
The free test is one sitting. Pro lets you sit every practice test as often as you like.
Should I take this or the Benchmark first?
If your invitation names SHL, take this test first: it is the format you will sit. If you have no invitation yet, the free Benchmark covers numerical, verbal and logical reasoning in 17 minutes and shows your weakest section. Each is one sitting.
